iPhone: No Pre-sales
Here’s the latest inside scoop. In a recent pre-launch communication to AT&T employees, it has been made clear that pre-sales or waitlists for the iPhone are not allowed. Sales are on a first come first served basis. In addition, they state that no specific release date has been announced.

iPhone Release Date Confirmed - June 11
Well, confirmed may not mean official, however it has been reported by CNET that when contacting Cingular, a customer service manager gave the date of June 11. This makes sense as that is the start of Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco.
