BusinessWeek’s Peter Burrows reported that Apple plans to ship 3 million iPhones on its June 29 launch. This will be the biggest product launch for the history of Apple.
It’s easy to forget that the iPod wasn’t an immediate hit when it rolled out. Apple had years to ramp up production. Jobs did so expertly, often creating a sense of scarcity by running slightly short of demand. With all the buildup over the iPhone, pumping up demand will be the least of his concerns. - BusinessWeek, 7 June 2007
This gives iPhone buyers a light of hope that they will get one on the launch date.
