iPhone: June 20 Release

First we were told June 11 was the release date, then some AT&T internal memo lead us to believe June 15 was the true date. Now apparently, an AT&T store has told CNBC that June 20 is the date iPhones will be in stores. Apple stocks rose when that news was released. The news was broadcast on CNBC’s On The Money.

And, while Apple has signed exclusive distribution rights to AT&T for five years — meaning no CDMA compatibility — and the iPhone has proprietary and patented technology, Verizon claims to be planning a competitor, which is supposed to look similar and take photos, play music, videos, and view documents. This phone will retail for about $100 more than the iPhone.
