Search was redefined by Google and since then the trend has been to copy the success of Google. As search evolves we discover great new tools to locate the information we need. The power of search now goes beyond strong algorithms. It is put into the hands of people. The social web is what Web 2.0 is all about.

ChaCha is a new search engine that delivers a new product: Search engine + instant messenger + About.com = A whole new personal way to search. The search engine debuted in September and it may look like your ordinary Google however ChaCha allows you to submit your query to a human guide that may ask you to refine your search and then goes searching a number of engines and delivers the most relevant results to you. When satisfied, the user then rates the guide. ClickZ’s Tessa Wegert puts it best.

“The difference is ChaCha’s guides, of which there are thousands stationed across the country, deliver search results customized to each site user’s specific needs. By adding a human element to an inherently technological service, ChaCha is intended to help save users the time and effort it takes to sift through thousands of results.” - ClickZ, 15 February 2007
