Just like keeping oneself healthy and maintained, you get a good feeling when you keep your car healthy. This is what I’ve done to my 2004 Hyundai Elantra:
- Thorough interior vacuum and wipe down of dust on surfaces
- Hand wash exterior
- Spray Wet ‘n Black or Tire Wet on the tires to make them look good
- Check tire pressure
- Remove major surface scratches with a scratch remover
- Touch up paint on dings
- It’s due for a 30,000 mile inspection including balancing and rotation of tires, oil change, brake inspection, etc.
If you’re a AAA member, you should take advantage of their AutoManager service which notifies you of regular services your vehicle requires and any recalls. After the fact it sort of feels good to know that my car is almost good as new again.
